Producer Chen and Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation stand at the shore of the Atlantic Ocean during the CNN International “Inside Africa” shoot.
CNN International’s “Inside Africa” spent a few days in the Gullah/Geechee Nation documenting the history, heritage, and culture and the connections to Africa. Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation, Minister of Information Elder Carlie Towne, Minister of Protocol Elder Lesa Wineglass-Smalls, sweetgrass basket maker, Elder Vera Manigault, De Gullah Cunneckshun, and Gullah/Geechee Fishing Association members Ricky Wright, Captain Legree, and Ed Atkins all took part in presenting ourstory.
Captain Joseph Legree who is a member of the Gullah/Geechee Fishing Association chats with the CNN International crew during the shoot at the Gullah/Geechee Ga’dun.
Queen Quet & De Gullah Cunneckshun provided music for the CNN International “Inside Africa” broadcast about the Gullah/Geechee Nation.

One of the aspects of Gullah/Geechee culture captured within the broadcast was Gullah/Geechee traditional foodways including harvesting from the water and the preparation of oysters. The culinary arts of Gullah/Geechees will not only be presented to the world through the CNN broadcast on those dates, it will also air on BronxNet’s “Bronx Flavor” with Baron Ambrosia. Ambrosia also does a program on the Food Network.
