Celebrate 25 Years of Gullah/Geechee Self-Determination at Gullah/Geechee Famlee Day!
The Gullah/Geechee Nation and its elected Head-of-State and Chieftess, Queen Quet, will celebrate a historic milestone: the 25th Anniversary of the founding of the Gullah/Geechee Nation. To mark this momentous occasion, the public is “culturally” invited to attend Gullah/Geechee Famlee Day on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from Noon to 3 PM at the iconic Penn Center, Inc. on historic St. Helena Island, South Carolina, within the heart of the Gullah/Geechee Nation.

Gullah/Geechee Cultural Heritage Awareness Month 2021
De Gullah/Geechee Nation gladdee fa e time fa disya! Queen Quet. Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation, the Gullah/Geechee Nation Wisdom Circle Council of Elders, and the Gullah/Geechee Nation Assembly of Representatives are putting on shoutin shoes in order to celebrate “Gullah/Geechee Cultural Heritage Awareness Month 2021.” The month will be launched at the “Gullah Moja Art Experience” reception on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 5 pm at the Cannon Street Theater in Charleston, SC.
Who WEBE: The Art of Living Culture of the Gullah/Geechee
Come out to meet and support Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) at the Colleton County Farmer’s Market & Museum in Walterboro, SC on May 22, 2021 at Noon. Queen Quet will present “Who WEBE: The Art of the Living Culture of the Gullah/Geechee” and will do a book and CD signing following the presentation. She will be joined by Gullah/Geechee artist, Quadre’ Stuckey who will close out his Gullah/Geechee art exhibit that will be at the museum from May 17-22, 2021. Celebrating Barbados & De Gullah/Geechee Nation
Many 2020 celebrations were disrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic. Amongst these were numerous return home to Africa celebrations and the 350th of Charleston, SC. These were scheduled to overlap with the 300th celebration in Barbados and the 20th Anniversary of the Gullah/Geechee Nation.
As we have often had to do, the children of Mother Africa adapted quickly to the new circumstances that we were faced with. So, we took our celebrations to the global audiences that could not come to visit us. As a result, thousands of additional people have been able to partake of insights about the African Diaspora that they may not have been able to do so if traveling was required. Two such online engagements that linked people directly to celebrations that are held annually in the Gullah/Geechee Nation were the Carifest Virtual Summit and the Take a Stand fa Gullah/Geechee Land! #GullahGeechee2020 Telethon.

Barbados to Welcome Queen Quet of the Gullah/Geechee Nation
Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) will journey to the island of Barbados with co-founder of the Gullah/Geechee Nation International Music & Movement Festival™, Kwame Sha of All Mobile Productions™ (AMP™). They have put out a global call for others of the Gullah/Geechee Diaspora and those that support the continuation of the rich cultural African heritage of the islands to join them in celebration June 21-23 on the island of Barbados. http://www.GullahGeechee.info
De Queen & De Chillun: Gullah/Geechee Education for the Youth
Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) is continuing the Gullah/Geechee Save the Sea Islands Tour with a number of youth presentations in South Carolina. On Juneteenth, she will present at the Metatonia Freedom School in North Charleston as part of their summer reading program series. She will continue the journey by making her annual appearance at the Colleton County Memorial Library on Wednesday, June 20th at 10 am. On Saturday, July 14th, Duke Energy is sponsoring her histo-musical presentations in Greenwood County, SC. These presentations will take place from 10 to 11:30 at Weston Chapel with the afternoon session from 1:30 to 3 at Our Lady of Lourdes as part of the “Let’s Talk About Race” series.
A Place Fa We: Black Townships on the Gullah/Geechee Coast
Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) is releasing a thirty volume series on Gullah/Geechee history, heritage, and culture entitled “Gullah/Geechee: Africa’s Seeds in the Winds of the Diaspora.” Volume VI is entitled “A Place Fa We: Black Townships on the Gullah/Geechee Coast.” This volume provides a brief, but comprehensive history of the incorporated townships that dot the coast of the Gullah/Geechee Nation and celebrates the visionaries that founded these areas while also examining the causes for the loss of some of them.
