Gullah/Geechee Holy Days Celebration Hosted by Barnes and Noble

The Destiny Community Café in North Charleston, SC is a “Pay-What-You-Can” café that has evolved from not only feeding the body, but to also feeding the mind.  In October, they did the ribbon cutting for the “Queen Quet Gullah/Geechee Legacy Library.”   This effort is being supported by Barnes and Noble.  The West Ashley store in Charleston and the North Charleston store are locations where donations of Gullah/Geechee and Black history books for all ages can be donated for the library via the “Gullah Geechee” Saturday Series for Destiny Community Café Book Drive.

Supportin #GullahGeechee Artistry

As the full week of #GullahGeechee celebration began, Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) sounded the conch via Twitter @GullahGeechee and Instagram @GullahGeechee to encourage people to continue to head out to museums such as the Gullah Museum in Georgetown or the one on Hilton Head to support Gullah/Geechee owned spaces that promote Gullah/Geechee history and sell artworks from native Gullah/Geechees.

Gullah/Geechee Artists Featured at Gullah/Geechee Seafood Festival 2018

De Gullah/Geechee Fishing Association will host its 5th Gullah/Geechee Seafood Festival on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from Noon to 6 pm at the Hunting Island Nature Center.
