Cum fa jayn de Gullah/Geechee Famlee pun Port Royal Sound fa an interactive day of Gullah/Geechee culcha pun de sea! Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation will present and do readings from her new novels about the Gullah/Geechee culture and the environmental issues that are affecting the coast. Gullah/Geechee artists, QuadrĂ© Stuckey will have original paintings on sale along with the new children’s book that he illustrated and Anastatia Ketchens will sell sweetgrass items and lead the “Songs of the Sea” drumming circle and fun fa de chillun. Gullah/Geechee Fishing Association members will take folks through the maritime center and do interactive demos about how they harvest from the water while keeping things balanced in the waterways.
