Yenna Chirun House Seedin de Soil and de Minds

The Gullah/Geechee Angel Network is the official 501(c)3 non-profit organization for the Gullah/Geechee Nation. The work of this non-profit is directed by native Gullah/Geechees and serves the citizens of the Gullah/Geechee Nation via intergenerational programs. In order to make sure that future generations are fully knowledgeable of Gullah/Geechee culture and how to sustain themselves, our land ownership and our human rights, the Yenna Chiren House is being established in the Union Hike’s area of Charleston, SC in the Gullah/Geechee Nation.

During 2020, the Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition was able to host several virtual and online fundraisers to support this sister center to the Gullah/Geechee Living Legacy Center on St. Helena Island, SC in the Gullah/Geechee Nation. The libation ceremony for the Yenna Chiren House was captured by Gullah/Geechee TV (GGTV):

From that moment forward, this space has been planting seeds of empowerment into the minds and souls of the community members. This motivated the community to join the Gullah/Geechee Angel Network and Community Saviors at the site to install a community garden:

The seeding of the garden will take place amidst a spring celebration on Saturday, April 3, 2021 frum 11 am ta 4 pm. Hunnuh chillun need fa tek de famlee ta de Yenna Chiren House fa be paat ob disya fa tru!
