The month long series of activities celebrating Gullah/Geechee living traditions begins with a celebration for the children on Johns Island, SC in the Gullah/Geechee Nation on May 3, 2022 from 2-3:30 pm at Charleston Collegiate School. Come learn Gullah/Geechee history and support the craft artists while enjoying food and music with the children in this end of the school year celebration.

Travel to historic St. Helena Island, SC on Memorial Day Weekend to be part of the “Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Salute Decoration Day Ancestral Commemoration and Freedom Celebration.” The event takes place at the historic Dr. Martin Luther King Memorial Park on Saturday, May 28, 2022 from Noon to 3 pm. The libation ceremony will be led by Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com).

Obtain passes here and bring your family to honor the ancestors and support native Gullah/Geechee craft artists and business owners:

Proceed north to Charleston County, SC on Sunday to be a part of “Connecting wid da Diaspora” hosted by the official 501(c)3 of the Gullah/Geechee Nation, the Gullah/Geechee Angel Network at the Cannon Street Arts Center.
