Gullah/Geechee Seminole Diaspora Reunion Completes a Circle of Reconnection

Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation leads a traditional libation ceremony to welcome back Gullah/Geechees and Seminoles to Florida. This completed the circle of reconnection within the Gullah/Geechee Diaspora.

Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation has dedicated her life to educating the world on the history, heritage, and culture of Gullah/Geechees.  In so doing, she has set out on a journey to numerous areas of the United States and around the world to reconnect the Gullah/Geechee Diapsora.   The Wisdom Circle Council of Elders and Assembly of Representatives for the Gullah/Geechee Nation began taking this journey to insure this mission along side of the Queen and have conducted a number of sacred events to prepare the way for the family to return to the Gullah/Geechee Nation.   This culminated in Gullah/Geechees that still reside within the Gullah/Geechee Nation to reunite with those that migrated to Texas, Mexico, and the Bahamas and are now referred to as “Seminoles,” “Black Seminoles,” “Afro-Seminoles,” and “Muscogo.”

Queen Quet, Chieftess and Representative Glenda Simmons-Jenkins of the Gullah/Geechee Nation stand proudly with Chief Dub Warrior of the Black Seminoles in TX and the Seminole family returning from Red Bays on Andros Island in the Bahamas. This was the first time that all these branches of the Gullah/Geechee tree returned to the soil of Florida together.

When the entire Gullah/Geechee Disapora returned to Florida, Gullah/Geechee TV was there to capture this historic time in ourstory:

Gullah/Geechee TV has documented interviews with the “Seminole Indian Scouts” that reside in Brackettville, TX on numerous episodes.  They have also documented the “Gullah/Geechee Seminole Maroon Reunion” that was a part of the “Gullah/Geechee Nation International Music & Movement Festival.”  All of these can be viewed on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/AMPTurnItUp.  Also, on YouTube is a video that captured the Gullah/Geechee migration story written of in “The Legacy of Ibo Landing: Gullah Roots of African American Culture” and “Invisible War” that took place during the “Gullah Wars” which are often spoken of as the “Seminoles Wars”:

Now, that the pathway back from the west and from the Caribbean has been cleared, the Gullah/Geechee Nation is calling together the entire Gullah/Geechee family to Charleston, SC for the “Gullah/Geechee Jubilee” August 3-5, 2012.  Cum fa jayn we pun disya Gullah/Geechee Seminole Diaspora reconnection journee cuz e time fa hunnuh shout wid we!  www.gullahgeechee.info
