South Carolina Celebrates #GullahGeechee Nation Appreciation Week 2018

The South Carolina coast has been celebrating “Gullah/Geechee Nation Appreciation Week” since it began in the City of Charleston in 2012. As usual, every county that makes up the South Carolina Lowcountry excluding Horry County has participated in proclaiming the celebration.
The celebration was launched in Florida this year for the first time at the Gullah/Geechee Famlee Day at American Beach. It will culminate in Charleston with the Gullah/Geechee Nation International Music & Movement Festival™ once again. This year the celebration is themed “Disya da Gullah/Geechee!”
Georgia Celebrates #GullahGeechee Nation Appreciation Week

The Coastal Empire and the Golden Isles are glowing from the richness of the Gullah/Geechee traditions, heritage, and culture that are being celebrated there again this year. Chatham, Glynn, and Liberty County once again led the way in proclaiming “Gullah/Geechee Nation Appreciation Week” again this year!
Port Royal Proclaims Gullah/Geechee Nation Appreciation Week 2017

Mayor Samuel Murray and the town council of the Town of Port Royal presented Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) with a proclamation for “Gullah/Geechee Nation Appreciation Week 2017” during their town hall meeting.
