Gullah/Geechee Angel Network Yenna Chiren House Fundraiser
In order to reach out to the community and to reach the $5K fundraising goal, the Gullah/Geechee Angel Network has called on Star 99.7 Radio personality, Savannah to host an afternoon of poetry, music, and cuisine at the Gullah/Geechee owned “Hannibal’s Kitchen.” Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 6-9 pm.
Sandy Island 1st Annual Community Cultural Event
Sandy Island Gullah Geechee Legacy & Development will host its 1st Annual Community Cultural Event on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 9 am to 5 pm. The featured speakers will be St. Helena Island natives, Ron Daise and Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation. Queen Quet will present at Noon for this fundraiser.
Harriet Tubman Statue to be Erected in Beaufort, SC in the Gullah/Geechee Nation
Join the Beaufort Gullah/Geechee Famlee at the “Gullah Lowcountry Dinner Theater” on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 5:30 pm. This event will feature a presentation by Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) entitled “Hallelujah Harriet: Mother Moses and de Gullah/Geechee.” The entire event is a fundraiser for the Harriet Tubman Monument which will be placed at Tabernacle Baptist Church Campus. Advance tickets are on sale. The ground breaking ceremony for the monument will take place on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 10 am and is free and open to the public.
Gullah/Geechee Knows Emanuel Premieres for Black History Month!
“Gullah/Geechee Knows Emanuel: A Gullah/Geechee Story” will take the audience on a journey through the Gullah/Geechee memories of the history of Emmanuel in Charleston, SC from the founding of Emanuel AME by Denmark Vesey and Gullah Jack to the tragic slaying of nine members of Emanuel AME in 2015.

Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) tirelessly works to help keep the Gullah/Geechee culture alive and to protect the environment. Her native culture is inextricably tied to the land and the waterways of the Sea Islands and the Atlantic Ocean. Due to major climate change dynamics, there are numerous threats to the Gullah/Geechee Nation’s coast and thereby to the continuation of the cultural traditions of Gullah/Geechees. Please support her journey to the UN’s COP22.
Down Caribbean Way in the Gullah/Geechee Nation-Fort Fremont Fundraiser
In order to bring more awareness to the historic Fort Fremont, the Friends of Fort Fremont have held a number of lectures and events. On Friday, September 30, 2016, they will host an evening of entertainment to raise funds for the interpretive center for the site at the Celadon Club on Lady’s Island from 6-8:30 pm. They are inviting everyone out to enjoy the music mixed by DJ Kwame Sha of All Mobile Productions™ (AMP™) as they ask everyone to join them “Down Caribbean Way.”
