Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) returned to Daufuskie Island, SC to interview Michael Bedenbaugh of the Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation about the restoration of homes in the Gullah/Geechee Nation for the Gullah/Geechee families of the island. There is a current online effort underway in support of a revolving fund that will be used to restore these homes to livable conditions so that that native families can return to the island to live or use the properties to generate necessary income to continue to pay their taxes and retain their land ownership.
