The Gullah/Geechee Nation has been celebrating its 25th Anniversary since February. This is also the 25th Anniversary of Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation. Therefore, activities have been held in all four states already and the journey from Jacksonville to Jacksonville continues over the coming months. Queen Quet is calling for all the Gullah/Geechee Nation’s citizens and global supporters to come out and be a part of the fun and authentic cultural enrichment!

Nation Appreciation Week which is happening July 31st-August 8, 2021.   The celebration is happening under the theme “Celebrating Gullah/Geechee Land & Living Legacy” and will begin on historic St. Helena Island, SC on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Noon at the Dr. Martin Luther King Memorial Park on Sea Island Parkway at Dr. Martin Luther King Drive with “Gullah/Geechee Famlee Day.”

Queen Quet of the Gullah/Geechee Nation Keynotes for Leadership Summit for Healthy Communities

Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) will be the keynote speaker for the Leadership Summit for Healthy Communities. For centuries, the Gullah/Geechee people have endured inequities and unfair treatment that have negatively impacted their quality of life. Queen Quet will present on how her people live an active life that supports overall healthy living. The traditional Gullah/Geechee lifestyle has led to many natives of the Sea Islands living into their 90s and 100s and still being viable active members of the community. She will tell you how public health advocates and community coalitions can work with the Gullah/Geechee people to increase access to healthy eating and active living resources and improve health outcomes.

Gullah/Geechee Nation Celebrates Bike Month!

May is “National Bike Month” and the Gullah/Geechee Nation is joining in the celebration! Not only are the leaders of the Gullah/Geechee Nation encouraging people to participate in “National Bike to Work Week” May 15-19, 2017, they are encouraging Gullah/Geechee and Black bike riders to cycle and cruise down to the St. Helena Community Market in the Dr. Martin L. King Memorial Park on historic St. Helena Island, SC in the Gullah/Geechee Nation on Saturday, May 20 between 10 am and 3 pm for “Gullah/Geechee Bike & Beauty.”
