Queen Quet of the Gullah/Geechee Nation Shares Stories from the Frontline of Sea Level Rise on NPR’s Science Friday

Tune in to your local NPR station at 3:06 p.m. EST TODAY or to https://www.sciencefriday.com/radio/ to hear Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation and others members of the Anthropocene Alliance’s Higher Ground leadership share their stories on Science Friday.

“Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) donned her Anthropocene Alliance T-shirt that reads, “I Flood and I Vote” as she went out to check on her crops that got flooded due to a recent thunderstorm. As a member of the Higher Ground Council, she continues to educate people about climate change and sea level rise issues that threaten food security. What greater example of this reality than this type of imagery? Fortunately, most of the crops needed water due to the extreme heat that had brought on a short drought on the island.
