The schedule of “#GullahGeechee2020: Seein Gullah/Geechee Culcha Clearly” events launches with the celebration of Black History Month. The highlights for the month included a special celebration in the Golden Isles of Georgia. Queen
Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) and Quadré Stuckey (www.QuadDesigns.net) will join with Gullah/Geechee traditions keeper, Carolee Holmes Brown to present “De Artistry of Gullah/Geechee” at the Jekyll Island Convention Center on Saturday, February 22, 2020 from Noon to 3 pm.

The celebration of Black History and the Gullah/Geechee legacy continues at historic Penn Center, Inc. on the following Friday evening. Adults 25 years and older will come out dressed to impress at the “Gullah/Geechee Black Gold Ball” on Friday, February 28, 2020. This event is being sponsored by the Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition and All Mobile Productions™ (AMP™) to raise funds for the Penn Center Heritage Days Celebration. DJ Kwame Sha will mix R & B throughout the night for this grown folks party. So, make sure you wear your dancing shoes!

For those that can make it up early the next day after dancing all night, all roads will lead to the “Gullah/Geechee Famlee Day at the Gullah Museum” in Georgetown, SC.

Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) will host this event along with Andrew Rodrigues of the Gullah Museum. Queen Quet will also present from her new Gullah/Geechee novels and do book and CD signings throughout the afternoon. Many Gullah/Geechee crafts will be on sale and artist Quadré Stuckey will be a featured artist. Guests will learn the Gullah/Geechee history of Georgetown. In the Gullah/Geechee Nation, Black history is celebrated 365 to 366 days of the year. So, these events will simply get the ball rolling for a series of power filled Gullah/Geechee cultural heritage events that will be engaging and unifying.
