There are many Black owned businesses, but fewer Gullah/Geechee owned businesses throughout the Gullah/Geechee Nation. In order to keep the community safe, we are not promoting taking tours at the present time. However, that does not preclude folks from being able to support a number of other Gullah/Geechee companies that are operating restaurants and e-commerce sites. Healin We @GullahGeechee from Roots to Rest

These women all held my hands in theirs and transferred energy that protected, healed, and uplifted simultaneously. Each of these hands had pronounced veins that seemed to mimic the roots of the herbs that they had gathered from beneath the well rooted trees in the wilderness of the islands along mountainsides. I reflected on our flat land of the Lowcountry and the journey into the woods and around the yards with my mother whose hands are like theirs and can touch that which can nourish you in a way that is unforgettable and sustaining.

As Gullah/Geechee Nation Appreciation Week 2020 rapidly approaches, town after town and county after county from Jacksonville, NC to Jacksonville, FL are issuing proclamations for the #GullahGeechee2020 celebration. The media is also connecting with Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) to not only promote the celebration, but to talk with her about her two decades long reign as Queen.
