Queen Quet on the Survival of Sea Island Wisdom
This week we are honored to be in dialogue with Queen Quet, Chieftess and Head-of-State for the Gullah/Geechee Nation, who is striving for justice on the front lines of the most pressing Anthropocentric intersections: climate change, resource extraction, corrupt and negligent government bodies, land theft, encroaching development and exploitative tourism.
Taking on Indigenous sovereignty, land rights, and climate change resiliency plans, Queen Quet is a warrior of justice for not only her peoples, but all of humanity.

Gullah/Geechee Queen Quet Gwine Back ta de UN
Sea level rise and other climate changes impacts are compounding the work to protect the Sea Island environment. Yet, Queen Quet is committed to this work daily. Queen Quet has successfully worked against offshore oil drilling and seismic gun use in the Atlantic Ocean and is actively engaged with global partners in reaching the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. On September 25th 2015, countries adopted a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda. Each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years and the Gullah/Geechee Nation is working to achieve these goals during the International Decade of People of African Descent. With your support, the Gullah/Geechee can insure that we have representation in the major planning and engagement activities to reach these goals and to insure that the Paris Agreement to protect the environment are achieved. So, Tenki Tenki fa hep we send Queen Quet ta de UN one mo ‘gain!

Dr. King and Human Rights Organization in the Gullah/Geechee Nation
The Gullah/Geechee Nation we’ve got to stay together and maintain unity! We must continue to affirm that we will do as Dr. King dedicated his life to doing and choose to identify with the underprivileged. Choose to identify with the poor. Choose to give your life for the hungry. Choose to give your life for those who have been left out…This is the way I’m going in order to live up to the mission of the Gullah/Geechee Nation.

“We who believe in freedom cannot rest!”
