In one of the most trying times that the world has ever seen, people from all walks of life have come together to support each other as human beings and to support the cause of dismantling racism by sharing the truth. Many of these individuals have also decided that the best way to support the BIPOC communities is via financial support so that the economic wealth gap can be closed and the BIPOC communities and families therein can be sustained. Fortunately, a number of organizations and individuals have stepped up to join and support the Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition in the efforts that it has led for over two decades.

20 Years as Queen: Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition Reflects on Queen Quet

On April 1, 1999, Marquetta L. Goodwine whose roots stem from St. Helena, Polowana, and Dataw Islands in Beaufort County, SC sat down before the world in Genéva, Switzerland. She became the first Gullah/Geechee to speak before the United Nations Human Rights Commission. She had no idea that when the clock on the wall stopped at zero that a clock that would be ticking to alter the trajectory of her life would begin running. She has been running in syncopation with it ever since.

Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition Celebrates 20 Years with #GullahGeechee2020!

To celebrate 20 years at the premiere advocacy organization for Gullah/Geechee people worldwide, the Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition will host twenty different events as a part of #GullahGeechee2020. These events will also be part of their continued celebration and commemoration of the International Decade of People of African Descent.
