Gee ta de @GullahGeechee pun #GivingTuesday 2020

As we now approach Giving Tuesday, we want to make folks aware of why this is such an important day in the Gullah/Geechee Nation. Giving Tuesday started in 2012 in the United States. It was founded by the 92nd Street Y nonprofit as a rallying cry to encourage people to donate to their favorite causes. The Giving Tuesday movement is now in over 70 countries including the Gullah/Geechee Nation. In 2019, $500 million was raised online. Charitable causes are in need of even more support this year due to the pandemic. So, we are calling on all of our supporters to make donations to these Gullah/Geechee fundraising efforts and to share the information with your networks

Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) was honored at the American Society of Adaptation Professionals (ASAP) Awards. She was presented with the Regional Adaptation Leadership Award for the Carolinas. The American Society of Adaptation Professionals (ASAP) Regional Adaptation Leadership Award (RALA) recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves in the climate change adaptation field through exceptional leadership.

The National Coastal & Estuarine Summit will feature a keynote message by Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) followed by a panel of Gullah/Geechee Sustainability Think Tank members moderated by Queen Quet on Wednesday, September 30th. The endless richness of Beaufort County is found on the land and in the waterways surrounding it and that run through it. To insure that this culturally rich and aesthetically beautiful environment is sustained for future generations to enjoy and have a high quality of life in, the destructionment designs need to be curtailed. The land, water quality, and Gullah/Geechee culture need to all be protected in this outstanding area.
