Queen Quet has been a Sea Islands environmental champion for over four decades. She has continued these efforts for half of that time via the Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition which she founded. Two of the primary focal points of the Coalition’s environmental efforts are currently cultural sustainability in the face of climate change impacts and also the prevention of further fill and build activities. In order to further their work in the latter case, they have been leading the campaign to stop destructionment at Bay Point.
