From the Middle Passage to the Sea Islands of the Gullah/Geechee Nation


Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation ( takes listeners on a journey through the Middle Passage journey from the Motherland to the Sea Islands on this episode of Gullah/Geechee Riddim Radio entitled “Middle Passage Journey to the Sea Islands  This water passageway came to be due to the crime against humanity called the “TransAtlantic Slave Trade.”  Over the years, there have been a number of ceremonies done to honor the souls of those that went into the passage and those that survived it.   In the Gullah/Geechee Nation, September has now been declared “Middle Passage Month” in Fernandina Beach, FL.

Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation will lead the libation ceremony in Old Town Fernandina on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 3 pm.  Representative Glenda Simmons-Jenkins and Peck Ensemble will also present during the ceremony which is part of the “Middle Passage Ceremonies and Port Markers Project.”
