Queen Quet Receives Traditional Knowledge Scholarship from the National Marine Educators Assocation

Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation continues to be a champion for the Sea Island environment and the continuation of the traditions on the Gullah/Geechee coastline.  Her efforts have led to her being selected as a “Traditional Knowledge Scholarship” recipient for the 2012 National Marine Educators Association.  Queen Quet was also selected as a presenter for this year’s conference which is being held in Anchorage, Alaska.

The poster presentation is about Queen Quet’s TogetherGreen Fellowship project with Toyota & Audubon entitled, “Gullah/Geechee SEA and ME.”  The poster will become a permanent panel of the travel exhibits available from the Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition.   “Me hafa hab a lil bit a we sea wheba mi gwine be.” says Queen Quet.
