Queen Quet of de Gullah/Geechee Nation and Pioneers of Preservation

The first event of the Pioneers in Preservation series will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum, located at 41 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Gullah/Geechee Nation luminary Queen Quet will deliver a thought-provoking, “edu-taining,” “histo-musical” performance highlighting Gullah/Geechee roots while focusing on the strength of tradition and the power of story through music. Those arriving ahead of the presentation will be able to see the “Human Cargo” exhibition for FREE.
Harriet Tubman Statue to be Erected in Beaufort, SC in the Gullah/Geechee Nation

Join the Beaufort Gullah/Geechee Famlee at the “Gullah Lowcountry Dinner Theater” on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 5:30 pm. This event will feature a presentation by Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) entitled “Hallelujah Harriet: Mother Moses and de Gullah/Geechee.” The entire event is a fundraiser for the Harriet Tubman Monument which will be placed at Tabernacle Baptist Church Campus. Advance tickets are on sale. The ground breaking ceremony for the monument will take place on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 10 am and is free and open to the public.
Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Returns to Mississippi!
Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) will deliver the keynote address at Alcorn State University in Mississippi on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 11 am in the James L. Bolden Student Center Ballroom entitled “Gullah/Geechee: A Living Cultural Collaboration.” The histo-musical presentation and lecture will be followed by a book and CD signing.
