Protecting Gullah/Geechee Sacred Grounds

The Gullah/Geechee Nation is seeing an onslaught of disrespect to sacred grounds from the Carolinas to Florida as newcomers seek to build along waterways and in historic areas. As a result, native Gullah/Geechees are coming together to call on the world to stand with us to protect these sacred areas and to honor the ancestors and family that have been resting in these sacred spaces.

Ancestral Reburial Celebration in the #GullahGeechee Nation

The Gullah Society will host the Ancestral Reburial Celebration in Charleston, SC in the Gullah/Geechee Nation on Saturday, May 4th and Sunday, May 5th. This will be the conclusion of a series of events that have linked the Gullah/Geechees of the present to the 36 ancestors that will be reinterred in Charleston.
