Are all welcomed and is there a dress code such as all white for events or costumes of any sort?

    • Peace!

This is a PUBLIC festival. So, the events at the library and tours are open to all as is the worship service.

Costumes are only required by those that are acting in some way. We do not expect people to come to the event in any costumes nor to wear white. White is worn for sacred events for specific reasons and those engaged would be notified that they needed to wear white.

  2. are food vendors invited to the festival?

    • Peace!

We do not take food vendors at this festival. However, they are allowed at numerous other festivals in the Gullah/Geechee Nation.

  3. sunny

i will be travelling from philly… what lodging accomodations would you suggest? desires guesthouse/bed & breakfast type vs. chain establishment.

    • Peace!

The hotel for the event is the Quality Inn on St. Helena Island and the discount code is “GGN” if you want to stay where others are staying on the island. There are no B&Bs on the island. The guesthouse would be located at historic Penn Center, Inc. You can call the conference center there at (843) 838-2432 and let them know that we sent you. You can stay there and walk across and down the road to the activities for Saturday. Make sure to get your tickets online. You can also use “GGN” as the discount code at our event ticket link that you see on the page.

Tenki tenki fa cumin! Have a safe trip!
