Celebrating 20 Years of de @GullahGeechee Nation and e Queen

As Gullah/Geechee Nation Appreciation Week 2020 rapidly approaches, town after town and county after county from Jacksonville, NC to Jacksonville, FL are issuing proclamations for the #GullahGeechee2020 celebration.  The media is also connecting with Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) to not only promote the celebration, but to talk with her about her two decades long reign as Queen.  On Monday, July 13, WTOC-TV sent out a crew to connect with Queen Quet and they aired a wonderful interview:

This was Queen Quet‘s second interview of the day.  She started out in the morning chatting with WHHI’s Beaufort News.  That piece aired on cable television.

On Tuesday, July 14, 2020, Charleston County Council and the Town of Beaufort will issue their proclamations during council meetings.  Liberty County, GA will follow suit on Thursday, July 16th.

Between receiving proclamations, Queen Quet will host Olubusola Abeena Adebonajo of Naturally Geechee on “Zooming in on Sustainability.”

The two will dialogue about “Being Naturally Geechee” just as they prepare for the #GullahGeechee2020 Virtually Telethon which will be held online on Saturday, July 25, 2020 from Noon to 2 pm via A Growing Culture on YouTube and the Gullah/Geechee Nation Facebook Fan pageatwww.Facebook.com/GullahGeecheeWEBE.

Queen Quet will return to A Growing Culture‘s Hunger for Justice broadcast on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 11 am “Celebrating Black Land Ownership.”
