Gullah/Geechee: Living Resilience and Cultural Sustainability
Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation ( www.QueenQuet.com) returned to the University of Florida as one of the stops on the “Healin’ de Land World Tour.” She was afforded the honor to be a “Dean’s Scholar” and she provided the keynote address, Tune een fa yeddi disya frum “Gullah/Geechee: Living Resilience and Cultural Sustainability.” Gullah/Geechee TV (GGTV):
Queen Quet addressed a number of topics including sea level rise, opposition to offshore drilling, ocean acidification, destructionment and how to combat these things in order to retain cultural heritage. She addressed how to living in balance with the natural environment in the manner that the Gullah/Geechee community has done for hundreds of years.
