Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) and Afroculinary Specialist, Michael W. Twitty (www.afroculinary.com) had a dialogue about the revolutionary nature of maintaining a cultural culinary legacy and how this relates to the roots of Gullah/Geechee culture.

Queen Quet works in the fields the traditional Gullah/Geechee way.

They talk about their Gullah/Geechee Nation ancestry and how this links the plantation past to the food security dynamics of the present on not only the Sea Islands, but throughout the deep south as well.  The essence of these things tend to relink the Gullah/Geechee Diaspora as will the coming “Heritage Days Celebration” themed “Sea Island Roots: A Celebration of Reconnection” at which both Queen Quet and Michael W. Twitty will be presenters in “De Gullah Roots Village” which is being sponsored by the Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition and at the “Researching Gullah/Geechee Roots Symposium” which is being sponsored by Najmah Thomas Consulting and the St. Helena Branch Library.
