Gullah/Geechee Fishing Association Celebrates Its Third Anniversary!
The Gullah/Geechee Fishing Association (www.gullahgeecheefishingassociation.com) was founded on March 25, 2010 in Beaufort, SC in the Gullah/Geechee Nation. Since that time, the organization has grown to have members representing the entire Gullah/Geechee Nation. In their first year, they founded the “Gullah/Geechee Seafood Festival” as an annual membership drive and fundraising event. This event has brought out a number of people that want to support the mission of this organization:
2) To share traditional fishing methods with the next generation
3) To restore access to the areas and factories needed to sustain the seafood industry in the Gullah/Geechee Nation and southeastern United States
The Gullah/Geechee Fishing Association is open to traditional and commercial fishermen and women and seafood industry workers of African descent in the United States southeast and the Gullah/Geechee Nation. It is the official fishing association of the Gullah/Geechee Nation.
