Begin the morning with praise and worship at Centenary United Methodist Church in Oakley, SC.

4:00 pm Make your way into the Charleston RiverDogs Stadium for “Gullah/Geechee Appreciation Night!”  Bring the entire family to see Queen Quet make the first pitch and then join in a night of Gullah/Geechee presentations, trivia, and history while the rooting on our #1 baseball team!  Tickets are discounted for Gullah/Geechee folks and our supporters!

7 pm Enjoy dinner at “Butcher & Bee” with native Gullah/Geechee Chef BJ Dennis

Land and Gullah/Geechee Legacy Day

Take a trip to the Old Slave Mart Museum on Chalmers Street and a visit to Avery Research Center.

6:30 pm The Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition and the Heirs Property Law Center host “Gullah/Geechee Land Legacy and Heirs Property: An Interactive Workshop and Community Discussion” led by Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation and Attorney Willie B. Go to Fort Moultrie on Sullivan’s Island, SC to see what was the entry point for over 40% of all Africans enslaved in North America.  Before returning to downtown Charleston, support the sweetgrass basketmakers on Highway 17 and have lunch or dinner at Gullah Cuisine on the same highway.

Support the Gullah/Geechee owned restaurants including Huger’s and if you haven’t yet made it to Gullah Gallery Chuma, stop by and obtain some of the outstanding Gullah/Geechee artwork.
